Position Summary
This role requires a strong background in United States multi-state and multi-entity Payroll Tax and payroll processing. In addition, this role requires experience with Canadian payroll  


Essential Functions: Responsibilities of the Payroll & Tax Analyst include but are not limited to:

  • Ensure compliance in federal, state, local withholding and unemployment tax
  • Regular wage and tax reconciliation for all payrolls to validate liabilities, charges, and accuracy of wages and taxes reported
  • Responsible for maintaining jurisdiction profiles with rates, frequencies, registering new jurisdictions, and other compliance requirements
  • Research tax refunds and provide proper posting direction for Accounting based on refund reason
  • Handle all tax related mail 
  • Review, upload, and track tax notices within ADP SmartCompliance through completion
  • Reconcile monthly, quarterly, annual federal, state, and local tax returns 
  • Research and resolve any GL discrepancies related to Payroll tax accounts
  • Work with corporate tax team to monitor and report WOTC credits 
  • Handle payroll tax audits; internal and external 
  • Assist with stock vesting, options, disqualifying dispositions, processing, and reconciliation of liabilities
  • Assist with uploading U.S. payroll files including, but not limited to additional pay, bonuses, commissions, imputed income, stocks, relocations, etc. 
  • Assist with validating U.S. payrolls including but not limited to regular payrolls, off cycles, commissions, and bonuses. 
  • Handle W-2C’s and amended returns as needed via ADP
  • Handle Canadian Payroll process for bi-weekly payroll and monthly commissions including interfacing demographics, bonus, and hours files, validating data, and submitting files for processing to ADP, creating GL reports for Accounting, and providing RRSP and funding details for each payroll run
  • Canada monthly provincial reporting 
  • Handle inbox and phone calls related to Canadian payroll inquiries 
  • Annual T4 review with ADP
  • Provide ROE’s via ADP 
  • Other Payroll projects, tasks, and reports as needed


This is a team based role and may assist in other aspects of HR as well as help drive our Company’s Strategies and promote our Mission, Vision and Values. WSC has a highly collaborative culture and the successful candidate will work effectively with a broad group of senior executives, peers, and direct reports to perform the above responsibilities.  


Qualifications, Skills & Experience

The successful candidate will possess:

  • Minimum 5 years’ experience with payroll tax processing; multi-state and multi-entity
  • CPP preferred
  • Ability to reconcile tax accounts
  • Experience with ADP SmartCompliance preferred, SAP, SuccessFactors a plus
  • Advanced proficiency in Excel and other Microsoft Office products
  • Demonstrated ability to prioritize and meet deadlines
  • Excellent written, verbal, and inter-personal skills required


Abilities and Other Requirements:   The ability to perform work in a variety of work environments from a professional office environment to branch environment to customer construction sites is required.   Must be able to use standard office equipment such as computers, phones, photocopiers, and fax machines.

In order to successfully perform the essential functions of this job, the employee is regularly required to sit, and to move about the various work environments to train, monitor and ensure compliance with all company requirements.  The employee must be able to verbally communicate with employees, co-workers and customers in person and by phone.  The employee must also be able to travel to various work environments. Overnight travel may be required on occasion.
