ABOUT THE OPPORTUNITY:

Join our dynamic team and play a pivotal role in shaping the future of our company! As a key influencer, you will drive positive change by spearheading the development and enhancement of our EH&S systems, programs, tools, and metrics. This position offers a unique opportunity for technical leaders who are passionate about making a lasting impact on corporate strategy.

 

Reporting directly to the Vice President, EH&S, you will be an integral member of our EH&S leadership team, working closely with the Sr. Director, EH&S Field Operations. This collaborative role provides a platform for you to showcase your technical leadership skills and contribute to the overall success of our EH&S initiatives.

IN THIS ROLE YOU WILL:

Strategic Leadership:

  • Ensure the design and strategy of the WSMM’s EH&S system, policies, and procedures are consistent across all businesses.
  • Serve as expert counsel to improve the corporate EH&S management system and technology solutions to achieve a “Zero” Harm culture.
  • Partner in the development of strategic roadmaps, standards, and execution frameworks to drive company EH&S priorities.
  • Engage in EH&S thought leadership to improve the WSMM position as the industry leader.
  • Influence ELT (Executive Leadership Team) and SLT (Senior Leadership Team) through effective oral and written communications.
  • Influence others with and without accountability.

Technical Expertise and Solutions:

  • Provide technical solutions, best practices, and guidance to operational and functional leaders for effective and efficient EH&S compliance assurance.
  • Routinely research, assess, and evaluate innovations to corporate EH&S investment(s) with a goal to simplify and streamline by the adoption of solutions (tech and non-tech) to improve EH&S outcomes.
  • Lead the organization through complex technical EH&S challenges with regulatory acumen and insights.

Data Management and Analytics:

  • Responsible for EH&S BI and data analytics through the creation and dissemination of appropriate information in the form of KPI dashboards, reports, etc...

Project Management and Implementation:

  • Serve as the principal architect for corporate EH&S initiatives/investments in the areas of project management, design, and implementation.
  • Act with urgency to deploy structured solutions to improve EH&S business processes and outcomes.
  • Demonstrate learning agility and ability to drive change in and amongst stakeholders.

Prioritization and Urgency:

  • Prioritize deliverables (for self, team, Divisions, Regions, and Branches) with appropriate urgency.

SKILLS & EXPERIENCE:

Supervisory Responsibilities:

  • EH&S Data Analyst


Education and Experience:

  • Bachelor’s degree in natural or physical science, engineering, or equivalent. Advanced degree preferred.
  • Preferred certification through an accredited organization. Representative certifications can include PE, CIH, CSP, CHMM, CIA, ISO-LEAD, CQE, ASCE-sustainability, Six Sigma certification (green belt or above)
  • 12+ years of occupational and environmental health and safety experience in a matrixed organization required, at least 7 years leading cross-functional, cross-national, and cross-cultural teams.
  • Energetic and focused personality with a demonstrated ability to take initiative, successfully handle, and prioritize multiple competing assignments and effectively manage deadlines.
  • Extensive knowledge of U.S. EPA, DOT, and OSHA regulations, as well as federal and provincial requirements for Canada and Mexico.
  • Must be skilled at project management, including deployment of enterprise solutions.
  • Must develop and scale programs and solutions based on risk.
  • Attend to multiple high-priority issues simultaneously with calm.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills; communicates orally with clarity and command.
  • Escalate issues with urgency to facilitate ease of resolution.
  • Detailed proficiency in MS Excel, Word, PowerPoint, and SharePoint.
