Fixed Asset Accountant

The fixed asset staff accountant position is accountable for recording the cost of newly-acquired fixed assets, tracking existing fixed assets, recording depreciation, accounting for the disposition of fixed assets and IT Project Accounting.


Primary Responsibilities:

  • Monitor a system of controls, procedures, and forms for the recording of fixed assets
  • Track the compilation of project costs into fixed asset accounts, and close out those accounts once the related projects have been completed
  • Track company expenditures for fixed assets in comparison to the capital budget and management authorizations
  • Reconcile the balance in the fixed asset subsidiary ledger to the summary-level account in the general ledger
  • Compiles and analyzes financial information to prepare entries to accounts, such as, general ledger accounts, documenting business transactions, and completed corresponding reconciliations
  • Prepares and analyzes financial information detailing assets, liabilities, capital, income and expenses
  • Prepares and completes month-end close processing ensuring that all deadlines are met in accordance with the established closing dates
  • Reviews, investigates and corrects errors and inconsistencies in financial entries, documents and reports
  • Conduct analyses related to fixed assets as requested by management
  • Communicates and coordinates with both internal and external auditors and satisfies their requests for information in a timely manner
  • Compliance with SOX controls

  • Computer, telephone and electronic office equipment
  • MS Office Suite
  • Cognos


  • 2 years of fixed asset accounting experience
  • Bachelor’s degree in accounting preferred
  • Accounting for Information technology experience preferred, including SaaS Accounting
  • Must be detail oriented and have the ability to communicate clearly: both verbal and written
  • Intermediate knowledge in Excel and Access
